Pablo Riviere & Vivian Simon
Rivière & Simon, Brazilian Music
Pablo Rivière and Vivian Simon bring the elegance and rhythm of Brazilian Popular Music to life through a refined mix of bossa nova, samba, baião, choro, and other jazz-inflected Brazilian genres in the spirit of Antônio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Elis Regina, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, and Dorival Caymmi.
Their performances have been featured at events such as the Capitola Art & Music Festival, First Night Monterey, Cabrillo Music Festival, Mountain View Concerts on the Plaza, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.
Pablo, an Argentine-born guitarist, vocalist, and leader of the Santa Cruz-based Samba Cruz Quartet, plays with rich harmonies and the easy, swaying feel of Brazilian rhythm. His vocals have that relaxed bossa nova flow—smooth phrasing with a gentle swing and Portuguese lyrics that blend right into the guitar's groove. Vivian, a classically trained flutist and multi-instrumentalist, adds lyrical flute lines and smooth percussion that bring warmth and depth to their Brazilian sound.
Together, they create a relaxed yet captivating atmosphere—perfect for an evening of smooth Brazilian grooves and beautiful melodies.
